Donald Thompson

Donald Lee Thompson, 87, passed away January 27, 2022, at his home in Evansville, IN of natural causes. He was born January 31, 1934, in Cynthiana, IN to the late Charles (Abie) Thompson and Doris Smith Thompson. He was a member of Mackey Church of the Nazarene. Don graduated in 1952 from Owensville, High School, and then completed his education at Oakland City University and Indiana University. He was an educator for 38 years, the last 23 of which he was principal at South Terrance Elementary in Blairsville, IN. Don enjoyed many pastimes throughout his life: horses, motorcycles, boating, fishing, reading, traveling around the world; but his favorite was piloting his Cessna 172 airplane across the United States, often camping under the wing. He was proud to be an instrument rated pilot. Don is survived by his wife of 27 years, Diana Marvel Thompson, daughter Tiki Thompson, son Troy Thompson (Lisa), granddaughter Payton Thompson, stepdaughter Kimberly Morrison (Craig), step grandchildren Lyndsey and Duke Morrison, sister Karen Stoll (Joe), sisters-in-law Debra Adamson and Connie Marvel, and nieces and nephews. Holders Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Thompson. Services will be held at 10 am Monday, January 31, 2022, at Mackey Church of the Nazarene, Mackey, IN with Rev. Jared Henry and Rev. Bill Reed officiating. Friends may visit with the family Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 3p to 6p at Holders Funeral Home, 319 S. Main St. Owensville, IN 47665 and at the church Monday from 9a-10a.
