Edith Stacks

Edith A. (Duncan) Stacks, 92, passed away at 5:45 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Oak Village Nursing Home in Oaktown. Edith was born on July 15, 1921 in Wheatland, IN the daughter of Harvey and Marjorie (Nicholson) Duncan. Edith had worked in Air Quality as a supervisor at Bethlehem Steel in Gary, IN. She was a member of Wheatland Methodist Church. Edith was a seamstress and was very involved with quilting and crafts. She enjoyed sewing for her home, her children and her grandchildren and was very charitable with her sewing. She also loved to travel. Survivors include her daughter, Jane Holland of Bruceville; sons, Richard Carrie and his wife Britain of Vincennes; Harvey Carrie and his wife Jean of Wheatland; Raymond Carrie and his wife Alice of Monroe City; grandchildren, Cheryl Smith, Rebecca Holland, Mark Carrie, Scott Carrie, Greg Carrie, Brent Carrie and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services for Edith will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. Burial will follow in Wheatland Cemetery. Friends may visit with Edith's family on Saturday from 2:00 pm until the hour of service time of 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
