Millard Keith York, 79, of Fritchton, passed peacefully on Feb. 11, 2024.
Millard was born to Millard “Heavy” and Faith (Dutton) York of Chauncey, Illinois, on July 10, 1944. He married Carolyn Sue (Kays) York on March 2, 1976.
A natural mechanic, Millard worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, including for B&O Railroad and for the Knox County Highway Department. He was constantly fixing something around the property he shared with Sue on Robinson Road and was always willing to help both friends and strangers alike.
Millard was preceded in death by his mom and dad; brother, Joe York; and sisters, Linda (York) Perry and Cheryl Ann (York) Lust.
He is survived by his wife, Sue, who is a resident of Willow Manor Nursing Home in Vincennes; sons Mike York of Frankfurt, KY, and David (Janet) York of Noblesville, IN; and daughters, Sherri (York) Lucente of Rantoul, IL, Robyn (York) Thomas of Alamogordo, NM, and Cindy (Eric) Dorfner of O’Fallon, IL.; and brothers Jim York of Bakersfield, CA; and John York of Lawrenceville, IL. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Millard and Sue were proud members of Bethany Christian Church in Washington, IN, and enjoyed activities with the congregation there. They were parents to many, many, many four-legged animals throughout their marriage, many of which just showed up on their property and became part of the family.
A celebration of life will be held at 2020 State St. in Washington on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 1-2pm.
