Agatha Powell

Agatha D. Powell, 87, of Fox Ridge Manor, Vincennes, passed away Saturday morning, November 24, 2012 at her residence.She was born on March 18, 1925 in Vigo County, to Harry and Beulah (Trotske) Smith.Agatha retired from teaching and also had served as Director of Head Start in Anderson for many years. She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church where she was organist for many years. Agatha belonged to the United Methodist Women's Club, Tri Kappa, and enjoyed quilting and music.Surviving are her children, Steve (Jan) Powell of Austin, TX, Janet Powell of California, and Chuck (Audrey) Powell of Farmersburg; two sisters, Martha Lou Cooper of Fort Wayne, Geneva Cooney of California ; a brother, Harry Smith of Florida; along with six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James C. Powell.Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Cheryl Garbee and Rev. Ray Tromley officiating. Burial will follow in the May Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Tuesday.
