Alan L. Painter, 69, of Vincennes, passed away at his home on July 15, 2016.Alan was retired from having worked 37 years at the Whirlpool plant in Evansville, IN. An Army veteran, he served in the Vietnam War in the 101st Airborne Division. His memberships included the VFW and the 40et8, along with the First Christian Church, the Moose Lodge, and the Elks.An avid golfer, he played in the senior leagues in Vincennes and in Bicknell. For many years he bowled, once rolling a 299. He was also known to have supplemented his income at the pool table. Alan enjoyed camping, boating, and deer hunting.Born March 27, 1947, in Vincennes, he was the son of Jacob Earl and Idella M. (Johnson) Painter. His parents and a nephew, Chris Qualls, preceded him.Surviving is his wife, Linda (Inman) Painter, whom he married October 1, 1988; his son, Ross Blubaum and his wife, Sarah, of Rockport, IN; sisters, Donna Hacker and her husband, Marvin, and Carolyn Qualls and her husband, David, all of Vincennes; a brother, Jerry Painter and his wife, Becky, of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Emilie and Chase; nephews, Steven, Scott, and Kevin Hacker, Michael Qualls, Kyle Painter, and Kegan Inman; a niece, Brenda Anderson; several great-nieces and nephews; a great-great-nephew; his mother-in-law, Delores Inman of Sandborn, IN; and brothers-in-law, Robert Inman of Sandborn, IN, and Kenny Inman of Greenfield, IN.Friends may visit with Alan's family on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 and on Wednesday, from 9:00 to 10:00 at Goodwin Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 at the funeral home on Wednesday, and interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.Donations may be made to the VFW.
