Albert O'Connor

Al O'Connor, 75, passed away at 5:30 pm on April 5, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Al was born on July 3, 1940 in Chicago, IL the son of Warren and Yetive (Hall) O'Connor. Al married Beverly Girtman on February 26, 1982.Al was a maintenance supervisor at Vincennes University retiring from there in 2002. He was a member of the American Legion, the Motor Coach Association, Fraternal Order of Police and was Co-Host of Wabash Trails Camp Ground. He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, woodworking, and his Boston Terrier, Duke and his Pug, Pugsley.Survivors include his wife Bev O'Connor of Vincennes, his children, Albert M. "Butch" O'Connor of Bicknell, Melissa O'Connor Robinson and her husband Billy of Vincennes, Bill Johnson of Goreville, IL, Tina Miller and her husband Jim of Vincennes, Jerry Johnson and his wife Kristel of Battleground, IN, Terry Johnson and his wife Breeze of Vincennes; thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Al was preceded in death by his father and step mother, Warren and Lavota "Blondie" O'Connor, his mother and step father Yetive and Fredric Heineken and his son, Tony Johnson.Funeral services for Al will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Rev. Jon McKinnon officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Tower II Mausoleum. Friends may visit with Al's family from 12-2 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Riley Hospital for Children or Vincennes Pet Port.
