Alvena Deckard

Alvena Lynn (Ivers) Deckard, 65, of Vincennes, IN went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Alvena was born in Vincennes, IN on January 21,1958, to Alva C. Ivers and Bertha M. (Clayton) Ivers Murphy, raised by Albert and Bertha M. Murphy. Alvena enjoyed the years owning and working at Fat Daddy's. She valued the customers and relationships it brought into her life. Alvena has also cleaned homes and was grateful for the opportunity to be of service to others. She enjoyed being with her family, spending time outdoors especially on the river, crafting, animals, and traveling. She was preceded in death by her father Alva C. Ivers; mother Bertha M. Murphy; stepfather Albert Murphy; brother Daniel Ivers; father-in-law William J. Deckard; mother-in-law Barbara Deckard; brother-in-law Greggory Deckard; nephew Clayton Rinehart; great-nephew Michael Carter. Alvena is survived by her husband of 24 years, William "Bill" Deckard of Vincennes, IN; children Joseph-Ray (Diane) Thomas, Jessica (Johnny) Bottoms, Christopher (Celesta) Thomas, Adrian (Lisa) Deckard, Ashley Deckard; grandchildren Noah Thomas, Eli Thomas, Jackson Thomas, Layla Thomas, Gage (Makayla Beard) Decker, Johna Bottoms, Aubrey Bottoms, Bo Deckard, Maylee Deckard, Dominique Alston, Danisha Deckard, Da'Myra Deckard; siblings Donna (Mike) Carter, Beth (Doug) Kemmerer, Timothy (Billie) Murphy, Daniel Murphy, Danny (Brenda) Deckard, Jeff (Jackie) Deckard; and many nieces and nephews. Goodwin-Sievers is honored and entrusted with the care of Mrs. Deckard. Visitation will be held Friday, June 2, 2023, at 524 Broadway St. from 10-1. A Celebration of Life will take place Friday, June 2, 2023, at 1pm. Memorial donations can be made to Good Samaritan Hospice in Alvena's honor.
