Alvina Perry

December 21, 1944 — September 25, 2019

Alvina Mary (Castellanos) Perry was born on December 21, 1944 and passed away on September 25, 2019 at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Her parents, Santos and Josephine (Kulisek) Castellanos, preceded her in death as did her beloved son Kenny Perry along with two brothers, Paul and Santos Castellanos and a sister Theresa Carlson. She is survived by her children Robert (Kathy) Perry of New York; Theresa (Mike) Wachholder of Wisconsin; two sisters Delores Schildgen and Shirley "Toots" Warrington, both of Chicago; a nephew Ron (Marsha) Schildgen; "daughter" Christina Hau (Qun) originally from Hong Kong, now residing in Carmel, IN; nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and many close friends in the Vincennes area, and her faithful canine companion, Sara Lee.She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many auxiliaries as teacher and leader. She was also a devoted Temple patron. She was active in civic affairs and genealogical research.She and her family made their home in Vincennes in the 1970's, after moving here from Chicago. She attended Vincennes University and graduated with Distinction having earned an Associate in Science Degree in 1977. She graduated from the Dotolo Institute Inc. in Florida in 1988. She then completed the course work at the National Association of Certified Natural Health Professionals in 2011. She had a deep love for learning and enjoyed travelling and seeing new and interesting places.She was employed as the Activities Director at the United Methodist Village in Illinois. She taught swimming and served as a lifeguard. She served as an Adjunct professor at Vincennes University and was employed at Good Samaritan Hospital as a Monitor Technician. She worked at Natural Blessings Health Food Store and owned and operated Therapeutic Health Center in Vincennes where she served many clients. A private celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Goodwin Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
