Anna Winstead

Anna Ruth Winstead, 90, of Owensville went to be with the Lord June 20, 2020. She was born in Owensville, IN February 22, 1930 to the late Oscar Bruce and Sadie (Murphy) Bruce. Anna graduated from Owensville High School in 1948, where she was a proud cheerleader. Shortly after she married the love of her life Robert Earl Winstead 12/24/1948 and had 67 wonderful years before his passing. Her first job was at Potter and Brumfield, where she always met her quota but talked the whole time. Anna loved to talk and tell stories. She worked at Owensville Community School for 20+ years as the cook at cafeteria manager where most knew her as Granny Annie. Anna LOVED to dance, she would go square dancing every weekend. She was a past member of Disciples of Christ Church. Anna enjoyed singing and would often sing at church. After church she would use her great cooking ability to fix a Sunday fried chicken dinner with all the fixings. She found comfort in reading, especially the Bible. Anna loved spending time with her family and was known to be the photographer in the group. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Earl Winstead; infant daughter Debra Ann Winstead; and half brother Darrell Bruce. Anna is survived by her children Kent (Jackie) Winstead and Sheri (Roger) Douglas; grandchildren Katie Winstead, Trisha Dewitt, Jeremia and Joshua Sterkel, Nicol Silvers, Joshua Douglas, and Chelsea Hogan; and 15 great grandchildren. Holder's Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Winstead. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Holders Funeral Home from 4p-8p. Funeral will be Thursday at 4:30p with John Naas officiating and interment at Mauck Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
