Augusta Biggs, 90, of Vincennes, IN died surrounded by family and friends on August 3, 2015 after a short illness. born July 3, 1925, in Vincennes, she was the daughter of Barnett and Frances (Hale) Bass.A homemaker, she was a member of the North Park Presbyterian Church of Amarillo, Texas. She was a lifelong Bowler in leagues with her Sister, Rose, for more than 50 years. She was also an avid reader and the family historian. Many a birthday and anniversary may now be missed without her faithful and encouraging cards arriving a few days before. She loved to visit with her large family, hear and tell stories, plan family reunions at Gregg Park and keep tabs on her grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities.Mrs. Biggs was a Past Matron and 50 year member of Vincennes Chapter 291 Order of the Eastern Star in which she held numerous elected and appointed offices. She was a past President of the Vincennes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1157 Auxiliary. She was also a 50 year member of Cedar Shrine #60 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem of Belleville, Illinois.Mrs. Biggs was with her Husband Raymond during most of his military career in the U.S. Air Force and lived in many states as well as the island of Okinawa. Two of her children and two of her grandchildren also served in the Air Force. She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Larry) Lehman of Vincennes and Connie (David) Donaldson, of Evansville, IN and a son, Raymond (Merlie) Biggs Jr., of Altus, OK; two granddaughters Hillery (Patrick) Koontz of Evansville, IN and Crystal (John Campbell) Coleman of Abu Dhabi, UAE; two grandsons, SMSgt. Ryan (Paula) Biggs of San Antonio, Texas and Eric (Beth) Lehman of Evansville; and seven great grandchildren: Cara, Justin, Ben, Logan, Isaac, Sydney and JP. She is also survived by a brother David (Kay) Bass of Fort Branch and Two Sisters Rose Sanders if Vincennes and Esther (Ron) Shaner of East Point, Florida.Services will be held at 12:00 noon at Gardner-Brockman Funeral home 505 Main St. Vincennes, IN 47591 on Tuesday August 4, 2015. Friends may visit with Augusta's family from 10:00 am until the service time at the funeral home. Flowers welcome or memorial donations made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
