Barbara Deboer

March 23, 1924 — March 26, 2015

Barbara G. DeBoer, 91, passed away at 10:49 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Barbara was born on March 23, 1924 in Sandborn, IN the daughter of John Lewis and Ella (Hole) Gregory. She married Eugene C. DeBoer on January 23, 1944 and he preceded her in death on January 30, 2007.Barbara was a graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and attended Vincennes University earning an Associate's Degree in Science. She then attended the University of Evansville earning her Bachelor's Degree in communications. She was Director of Public Relations and Alumni Affairs at Vincennes University and a lifelong member of First Christian Church. Barbara was also a member of PSI IOTA XI and Fornightly Club.Survivors include her daughter, Karen DeBoer of Vincennes; sons, J. David DeBoer of Indianapolis, Steven E. DeBoer of Bagdag, KY; grandchildren, C. Kevin Martin, Julie R. Martin, John David DeBoer, Brooks DeBoer, Heather DeBoer, Dustin DeBoer, Brandi DeBoer; step grandchildren, Tim Gladding, Amy Petkus, Brian Cobb; eleven great grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren and two great great grandchild. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene C. DeBoer, brother, Billy M. Gregory and two granddaughters.A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 30, 2015 at First Christian Church, 319 Broadway with the Rev. Steve DeFields-Gambrel officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with Barbars family from 2-6 pm on Sunday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway and from 9:30 am until the hour of service time on Monday at First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Christian Church, V.U. Foundation, and Good Samaritan Hospice.
