Barbara Deckard

Barbara J. Deckard, 77, passed away at 3:46 am on July 8, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Barbara was born in Bicknell, IN on July 11, 1935 the daughter of John and Ruby (Crawford) Summers. She married William Deckard on March 11, 1955 and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1986. Barbara was a homemaker and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also was an avid cat lover. Survivors include her sons, Bill Deckard and Alvena Deckard of Vincennes; Daniel Deckard and Brenda Taylor of Vincennes; Jeff Deckard and Jackie Deckard of Vincennes; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and one sister Marilyn Matthews of Vincennes. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Gregory Deckard; two brothers, Charles and John Summers and two sisters, Betty Borden and Judy Summers. Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home, 505 Main St. Friends may visit with Barbara's family from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
