Barbara Goodman

Barbara J. Goodman, 86, of Vincennes, passed away at 5:58 am Monday, March 23, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital.She was born on March 18, 1929 to Thomas Hilbert and Martha (Watjen) Cooper.Barbara graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947 and married her high school sweetheart, Jack L. Goodman on September 18, 1948. They spent 42 years together before his death in 1990.So much can be said about a person by what they leave behind. What Barbara left was a wonderful legacy of family. Her two children, Karen (Hyman) Feldman of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Gary (Meg Konecny) Goodman of Churubusco, IN; Her three grandchildren, Julie (Michael) Barnes, Dr. Robby (Amy) Goodman, and Dr. Ryan (Lisa) Goodman; her great grandchildren, Jack, Molly, and Sophie Goodman, and Lucas and Seth Barnes. She leaves behind many dear and special friends and family, especially her brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Janet Goodman and their children; and Barbara's nieces, Cathy Young and Cindy Adams.Barbara was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was past president of The Altar Society. She served in many capacities with the parish from bereavement dinners, to being a Greeter at Mass, to working on various committees, and of course the Sacred Heart Picnic. She was honored by the Catholic Diocese of Evansville for exemplary stewardship by the Brute'Society. She was presented with a medal and lifetime membership and had also volunteered for many years as a Pink Lady with Good Samaritan Hospital.Her hobbies included reading, gardening, and playing cards with her friends. Barbara retired from United Insurance of Vincennes.When asked once "What makes a success?" her reply, "A person is successful if they think of others before themselves. Treat everyone the same way you want to be treated. Do your best for others."A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Thursday March 26, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Paschal Nduka being Celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the Mass at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bereavement Dinner Fund or the Church Decoration Fund.
