Byron Edward "Barney" Robinson, age 85, of Vincennes, IN passed away at 12:13 pm on February 22, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. Barney was born on November 11, 1938, and he is the son of Byron Thais and Harriett (Reel) Robinson.
Barney attended Fritchton High School and graduated in 1957. Barney was a farmer and an equipment operator most of his adult life. He started Robinson Excavation in 1958 and was a partner in Robinson Brothers Farms with his brothers John, Fred, Harold (Snook), Bill and Dale. He enjoyed farming and collecting and restoring Farmall tractors as well as competitive tractor pulling. He loved animals and in his later years, was rarely seen traveling without his beloved four-legged companions, Chip and Isabelle. He could often be found enjoying a meal at Denny's with his friends, of which there were many. Barney was always up on the current world news, especially the stock market and politics.
Barney is survived by his wife, Karen of Vincennes; sons Mike Robinson and his partner Amanda Smith of Vincennes, Tom "Brownie" Robinson and his wife Beth of Vincennes, Robert Robinson and his wife Aziah of Conway, Arkansas, Shane Shepard of Vincennes; brothers, Harold Robinson and his wife Sharon of Bokeelia, Florida, Bill Robinson and his wife Jennifer of Vincennes, Dale Robinson of Old Town, Florida; his grandchildren, Cameron Robinson and his wife Carly, Payton Robinson, Brennon Robinson, Bryan Bunte and his wife Cara, Blake Bunte and his wife Kelly, Michael Robinson and his wife Victoria, Madison Robinson, Ana Smith, his great grandchildren, Josie and Owen Bunte and Murphy Robinson as well as seventeen nieces and nephews. Barney is preceded in death by his parents, Byron T. and Harriett Robinson, brothers John and Fred Robinson, as well as two nephews.
Friends may visit with Barney's family from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Monroe City First Church of God, 4930 S. De Bord St., Monroe City, IN 47557. Pastor Justin Brown will officiate, and Barney will be laid to rest in Royal Oak Cemetery in Bruceville. The Robinson family has requested memorial contributions be made to South Knox FFA, South Knox Athletics, Vincennes Animal Shelter or Royal Oak Presbyterian Church.
