Bert A. Dodd II, 90, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Bert was born on June 9, 1922 in Knox County the son of Bert A. Sr. and Leana (Johnson) Dodd. Bert married Mary Lee Durham on July 3, 1945. Bert was a lineman for Public Service Indiana and a lifelong member of First Christian Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F.A. & M. 1, V.F.W. and the American Legion. Bert was also one of the founding members of the Vincennes Township Fire Department. He was an arbitrator for IBEW, a Boy Scout leader for troop 110, he helped maintain the Harbor House building and he and his brother Charles volunteered at First Christian Church for many years. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Dodd of Vincennes; daughter, Karen L. Chapman of Newton, IL; son Bert A. Dodd III and his wife Rebecca of Vincennes; granddaughter, Dr. Tammi Chapman of Olney, IL; grandson, Bert A. Dodd IV. and his wife Kerri of Vincennes; granddaughter, Rachel Dodd of Cameron, NC; grandson, Brett Dodd of Vincennes and great grandson, Colt Kaiser of Olney, IL. Bert was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary McClary and two brothers, Franklin and Charles Dodd. Funeral services for Bert will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at First Christian Church, 319 Broadway St. with the Rev. Rick Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Christian Church.
