Bertanna Stewart

Bertanna June Stewart, 80, of Oaktown, slipped into the arms of Jesus with her family by her side at 9:00 pm Monday, March 18, 2019 at BridgePointe Health Campus.She was born June 26, 1938 in Vincennes, Indiana to Harold and Jean (Davison) Moyes.June was a 50 year plus member of the Emison United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was well known for her yeast rolls and enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening, canning, and watching her hummingbirds. She retired as a Matron after 31 years at North Knox West Elementary.Those surviving to cherish June's memories are her husband, John Stewart of Oaktown whom she married on June 7, 1957; her children, Susan Battles and her husband Kreg of Vincennes, Jana Howder and her husband Jay of Bruceville, and Christy Carie and her husband Brian of Vincennes; a sister, Kennita Piper of Bardstown, KY; her grandchildren, Ian Battles and his wife Molly, Megan Seibert and her husband Michael, Brooke Hulen, Ashley Bombeck and her husband Ryan, Jason Howder, and Zachary Carie; along with 10 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold Moyes Jr.; and two sisters, Donna Hawkins and Sue Ellerman.A Celebration of June's Life will be at 1:00 pm Friday, March 22, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastors Jarrod Chattin and Doug Witt officiating. Burial will follow in the Morris Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Good Samaritan Hospice. Goodwin Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Bertanna June Stewart.
