Bessie L. Adams, formerly of the Monroe City area, passed away March 2, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital. She had worked with her husband, Rubert Adams, on the family farm for many years, and continued their work even after he passed away. They also had dairy cows, and raised other livestock. A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Vincennes, she had been baptized at the former Mt. Zion Lutheran Church near Monroe City. Bessie enjoyed baking, and making baskets of all shapes and sizes. Born January 30, 1917 in Knox County, IN, she was the daughter of Albert & Margaret (Sappenfield) Myers. They preceded her, along with her husband, Rubert W. Adams, whom she had married on September 26, 1936; a son, Curtis Adams; a brother, Austin Myers; her grand-daughter, Brett Adams; daughter-in-law, Jane Adams; and a sister-in-law, Louise Myers. Surviving are her children, Elizabeth (Tom) Reel of Downing, MO, Wilmus (Betty) Adams of Wheatland, IN, Elaine (Joe) Ochs of Dundas, IL, Dr. Cyrus (Peggy) Adams of Vincennes, IN, and Eleanor Pesch of Marshall, IL; her grandchildren, Keith (Linda) Reel, Susan (Ron) Kieffer, Lisa (fiance' Bart Schmidt) Penland, Kent (Beverly) Reel, Georgianna Ryker, C.J. (Mary Ann) Adams, Eugene (Tammy) Adams, Ray (Beth) Adams, Beverly Adams, Carl Jones, Tiffany (Duane) Snider, Garrett Pesch, and Genna Pesch; 25 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Margaret (Frank) Olson; and her ex-son-in-law, Roy Pesch. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 5, at 10:00 EDT at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00-6:00 EDT at Goodwin Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Monroe City, IN. Donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be sent to the family through goodwinfamilyfh.com.
