Bessie Winifred Andrews Hatton passed away on April 29th at the age of 92. Born in Ossian Indiana on March 9, 1926 she was the daughter of Reverend N V Andrews and Winifred Annette Hutchins Andrews. At age 6 she moved with her family and dog "Bennie Violet" to Vincennes. She married William Earl "Bill" Hatton on October 16, 1943.Mrs. Hatton was well known for her musical talent playing the organ, piano and singing. Throughout her life beginning at age 15 she played for church services, weddings and receptions and at local funeral homes for over70 years. She was an outstanding accompanist who could transpose music by ear to the desired key of a soloist. A lifelong member of the Indiana Presbyterian Church she composed and arranged music for her gospel group the Presby Singers for over 40 years.She was a dedicated mother and farm wife who supported her husband in his family farm operation. A graduate of Fritchton High School and Vincennes University she was employed for many years in the Vincennes University reading department. She was named the outstanding Fritchton High School Alumni in 1994.Bessie is survived by her children Beverly Annette (Robert) Donovan of Indianapolis, Indiana, Charlotte Elaine (Mike) Thompson of Fritchton, William Bruce and his wife Cindy (Parmenter) Hatton of Washington and Raymond Andrews and his wife Teresa (Williams) Hatton of Fritchton, grandchildren Jeff Donovan and his wife Ifen, Andrea Huff and her husband Darrel, Ryan Donovan and his wife Michelle, Julie Palmer, Jennifer Blaize, Brian Hatton and his wife Stephanie, Nathan Hatton and his wife Whitney, Drew Hatton, Claire Hatton and Clay Hatton, Shannon Green and her husband Eric, Daniel Hatton and his wife Tristan; great-grandchildren Ryan M. Donovan, Elaine and Ben Evans, Mallory and Ethan Puckett, Elijah and Isaac Huff, Jessica, Robbie, Liam and Silas Donovan, Morgan , Addison and Grayson Palmer, Garrett and Natalie Blaize, Zoey Thompson, Katie Ann and Connor Green, Samuel and Caroline Hatton, Benjamin and Amaya Hatton, Samuel and Caroline Hatton. Also surviving is her dear sister-in-law, Virginia Andrews. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, sisters Estelle Dick, Lois Casterline and infant Charlotte Andrews, brothers John Andrews, Roger Andrews and infant Charles Andrews and grandson Andy Thompson. Her husband of nearly 72 years Bill passed away on August 29th, 2015.Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 1 at the Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home 505 Main Street with the funeral services at 11:00 on Wednesday May 2 conducted by Ray Tromley and Rev. Larry Langer. Burial will follow at the Royal Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Indiana Presbyterian Womens Missionary.
