Betty Clayton

Betty June Clayton, 89, passed away at 7:30 pm on October 19, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. Betty was born on January 29, 1929 in Bloomington, IN the daughter of Erza and Violet (Loveall) Van Deventer. She married the love of her life Harry Clayton on August 8, 1947 and he preceded her in death on June 3, 2015.Betty was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Paris, IL. She enjoyed reading, square dancing, and traveling with her husband Harry. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, a friend to many, and an inspiration to her family and friends. Her beautiful smile will be dearly missed by all who knew her.Survivors include her sons, Bryan Clayton and his wife Debbie of Vincennes, Jeff Clayton of Urbana, IL; sister, Barbara Rolland of Las Vegas, NV; brother-in-law, Tracy Clayton and his wife Carolyn of Danville, IN; sister-in-law, Karen Van Deventer of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Hillary Leloup and her husband Tyler, Doug Clayton, Haylee Clayton, Harrison Clayton, Justin Kinslow, Shannon Welch and her husband Dylan; and nine great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry; son, Douglas Clayton; and daughter, Jennifer Clayton.Graveside services for Betty will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Clayton Cemetery in Linton, IN with Pastor John Youngblood officiating. Interment will follow the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 601 S. 9th Street, Vincennes, IN 47591.
