Betty N. Miles, 95, a lifelong resident of Washington, went to be with the Lord of December 13, 2021. She was born to the late Helen I. (Hooten) Colbert and Noah D. Colbert on April 30, 1926, in Washington, Indiana. She was a graduate of Washington High School and a member of the First Christian Church. In addition to her role as wife, mother, and homemaker, Betty worked at various jobs during her lifetime, including Rosie the Riveter during World War II, salesclerk, cashier for the Diana Shop, and she worked for many years at Troy's restaurant. Betty enjoyed oil painting, crafting, and reading as her hobbies and she especially enjoyed being a grandma. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John to whom she was married for 67 years, a son Chief Warrant Officer 2 Joseph A. Miles, a sister Margie (Colbert) Hendry, a brother Jack Colbert, and grandchild Jodie Miles. Betty is survived by sons John A. and wife Sandra (Blue) Miles, Jeff A. Miles, Jack A., and wife Darla (Wise) Miles, eight grandchildren: Jerry A. Miles, Kathy A. (Miles) Strange, Lori L. Miles, Jessica A. (Miles) Arvin, Cory J. Miles, Amber L. (Miles) Orchard, Christina Miles, and Jennifer A. (Miles) Windish, twenty great grandchildren, two great - great grandchildren, and her sister Mary (Colbert) Sloan. There will be a private family viewing only with internment at St. John's Cemetery.
