Betty Lou Smith, 83 of Vincennes passed away peacefully at 9:00 pm on August 22, 2013 at Bridgepointe Health Campus. Betty was born on December 20, 1929, in Daviess County, Indiana to Joe and Lena (Everett) Watkins. Betty married Morris W. Smith on November 12, 1949 and he passed away on January 27, 1999.She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Smith Ricketts of Riley, IN; Randy Smith and his wife Patty of Lawrenceville, IL; Sherry Brashear and her husband Danny of Olney, IL; Nancy Adams and her husband Doyle of Vincennes, IN; Brad Smith and his wife Crystal of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Marcy, Scott, Kyley, Travis, Stacy, Sam, Taylor, Andy, Tyler, Cory, Jessica, Tommy, Ricky, Jennifer, Bradley, Michael, Austin, Mikaylan and fourteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, JoAnn Smith of Spencer, IN; Mildred Devine of Vincennes, IN; and Deloris Frisz of Monroe City, IN. In laws Max and Shirley Smith, Helen Smith and Vicki Smith. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Watkins, and sisters Minnie Allen, Dorothy Smith and Thelma Swing, and one brother and two sisters in infancy.Betty was a farm wife and mother, a cook at St. Peters Lutheran School for eighteen years, and worked in laundry at Crestview Nursing Home until her retirement.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, with the Rev. Faye Bilskie officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from four until eight pm on Sunday, August 25 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Scott Ricketts, Travis Bare, Sam Brashear, Andy Vieke, Bradley Smith, Brad Smith and Randy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler and Cory Adams, Tommy and Rickey Bilskie, and Michael and Austin Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
