Bettye Smith

Bettye Ruth Smith, 88, passed away at 12:35 am on March 10, 2023, at The Villages at Oakridge in Washington, IN. Bettye was born on July 14, 1934, in Knox County and she is the daughter of Theodore and Delphia (Compton) Comer. Bettye married Thomas Earl Smith on September 21, 1952, and he preceded her in death. Bettye and her husband Thomas owned and operated TJ's Sales and Service for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was very active in the choir, she was also Sunday School Superintendent. She later joined First Christian Church and was a member there up until her passing. Bettye loved to play cards, her cats, gardening, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her sister, Diana Carmean of Vincennes; her nieces and nephews, Nancy Grannon, Cindy Meade and her husband Greg, Robert Wildman and Bev, Daralette Wagers and her husband Randy, Desiree Cantwell and her husband Mike, Micah McCray and his wife Crissy, several great nieces and great nephews as well as several great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Private graveside services will be held for Betty at Memorial Park Cemetery. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Betty and her family.
