Billie Ray McCrary, 80, of Vincennes, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday March 7, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born August 25, 1931 in Knox County to Ray & Helen (Lane) McCrary. After retiring from farming he worked for United Producers and was a faithful member of the Decker Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a 50 + year member of the Patoka Masonic Lodge and also held membership in the Scottish Rite. A 1949 graduate of Decker Chapel, Billie had 50+ years of perfect attendance at the Decker Chapel reunions. He served in the U.S. Army where he took basic training in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri and later served in the Korean War. Billie also served on the South Knox School Board for 12 years.Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Margaret Joan (Kirk) McCrary whom he married October 12, 1951, a daughter, Kathy McCrary Organ of Vincennes, a son, Gary (Kathy) McCrary of Freelandville, his brothers and sisters, Ada Mae Caie of Vincennes, JoAnn Vieke of Vincennes, Margaret "Muggs" (Bill) Steininger of Decker, Frank (Lenor) McCrary of Sandborn, David McCrary of Vincennes, and Dan McCrary of Vincennes.
