Boyd Smith

Boyd F. Smith, Sr., 70, 22 Colony Drive, Vincennes, passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born July 14, 1940 in Monroe City, IN, the son of Herman Ivo and Blanche (Brooks) Smith. He had worked as a union concrete finisher and a truck driver for Williams Trucking. He attended Free Methodist Church and was a member of the Harmony Society, 40 et 8 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed working in the yard, having a good time and being with his friends. He served his country in the United States Marines.Survivors include his companion, Betty Williams of Vincennes; sons, Boyd Smith II and his girlfriend, Angela Gayer of Vincennes and Jay Smith of Elnora, IN; daughter, Julie Smith of Elnora, IN; sisters, Berniece Berry of Vincennes, Gerry Pinion, Denver, CO and grandson, Levi Scott Smith of Lawrenceville. IL.Preceding Boyd in death were his parents; one sister and three brothers.Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. with Rev. Gary Nichols officiating.
