Brenda Raper

Brenda Kay Raper, 61, of Oaktown lost her hard fought battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Originally from Norton, Ohio and born on September 4, 1951, Kay was preceded in death by her parents Clifton and Ollie (Cook) Raper and brother's Roy and Alvin. She is survived by her sister, Hilda Taylor of Norton, Ohio, brothers, Robert of Greenville, SC, Larry of Savannah, GA and Bernie and his wife Dee of Evansville, IN and her best friend and care-giver Diane Marlow of Oaktown.Kay was a resident assistant at Fox Ridge Manor in Vincennes where she was loved and appreciated by staff and residents alike. Prior to that time, she was the manager of Creole Lanes Bowling Center for many years. Kay enjoyed watching professional football and spending time with her cats. She was dedicated to the rescue of homeless animals. A memorial service is planned for 10:30 am Wednesday, April 17 at Oaktown Christian Church, 103 School Street in Oaktown, officiated by Rev. Todd Barnhizer. The family has requested that no flowers be sent. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or the Knox County Humane Society.
