“Bunny” Carole Ann Ostendorf, 79, Vincennes IN passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the Linda E White Hospice House in Evansville IN. She departed peacefully into eternal slumber with her daughter Kelly and her dear friend Pat Fankhouser by her side. She was born to John Hartwell Wissing and Frankie Stout Wissing on January 24, 1945 in Vincennes IN. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Ostendorf whom she was married to nearly 51 years, and her parents.
Bunny had served as president of several organizations such as United Way of Knox County, Knox County Board of realtors, Psi Iota Xi philanthropic sorority,Alpha Theta Xi sorority and Vincennes Garden club. She has also served as a board member for the Vincennes Historical and Antiquarian Society, Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous for 17 years, and Good Samaritan Hospice. Bunny was also active in Vincennes Fortnightly Club and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was a realtor for 20 years with FC Tucker Realty and awarded realtor of the year by Knox County Board of realtors. She was a graduate of Saint Rose Academy, Vincennes University, and Indiana State University.
She loved travel, especially abroad, reading and gathering with family and friends. She loved the holidays. She was the hostess with the mostest and loved parties. Her niece Wensley said it best when she stated (Bunny) has hosted her last party. She was the best Mimi any grandchild could ever want. She was a wonderful mother, wife, sister and friend. Her joy was infectious and will always be remembered.
Bunny is survived by her daughter Kelly Jones( Jason) of Evansville, IN, grandchildren Ethan Jones and Kiersten Jones (Alex Elmendorf). She is also survived by her brother Douglas Wissing of Bloomington, IN and sister and brother-in-law Leslie Wissing (Joe Fagan) of West Newton MA, nephews Dylan Wissing(Dana) and Seth Wissing(Erin Kenney), and niece Wensley Muñoz(Danny), and great nieces Sydney Wissing and Kari Wissing and great nephew Max Wissing.
Visitation will be Thursday August 1st from 3-7 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at Old Cathedral Friday August 2nd at 10:00 followed by a celebration of life at Beckus Student Union 11:30 to 1:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the John H. Ostendorf Scholarship for Physics and Engineering at Vincennes University.
