Retired Vincennes businessman, Carl Edward Nimnicht, passed on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 9:45 am.Carl was born in Vincennes, IN, on Nov. 12, 1936, the son of Dan Henry and Imogenne (Farley) Nimnicht of Wheatland. He attended Wheatland Grade School, and was a graduate of Wheatland High School, Vincennes University, and Indiana University.He served four years in the United States Air Force, and was stationed in Chatereau, France.Returning from service, he began work in 1960 at American National Bank, as a teller. Carl worked for American National Bank when it merged with Am Banc Corporation, and finally became Union Planters Bank. He was internal auditor, then moved to the Farm and Estate Planning Department, and retired after 40 years as Vice-President and manager of the Sixth Street Branch.He was a member of Vincennes Masonic Lodge #1, and the Scottish Rite of Evansville, a former member of the Elks Club and Kiwanis, both of Vincennes. Carl was a life-long Republican, having served as Treasurer of the Knox County Republican Party, and Precinct Committeeman of Steen Township. He was a past member and President of the South Knox School Board, and had served on many local boards, including the Knox County Holding Corporation for bonds for the new Knox County Jail. With his father, he owned and operated Nimnicht Nursery for many years, and was the President of Nimnicht Farms, Inc.A life-long member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, MA, he was also a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Vincennes. Here Carl served at the church as Board President and Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, and First and Second Reader.Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Anna Katherine (Bridges) Nimnicht, whom he married on June 1, 1968; daughters, Heidi Lynn (Bryan) Burkhart of Sullivan, IN, Kristin Brandenburg of Vincennes, and Katherine Danene (Jason) Nelson of rural Wheatland; grandchildren, Gretchen Kate Burkhart, Gabriele Elizabeth Burkhart, Hanna Caroline Burkhart, Tyler Jakob Brandenburg, and Tanner Jack Brandenburg; and a cousin, Frances Vee Hill of Colonial Assisted Living in Vincennes. Carl was preceded by his parents; a brother, Dan Allyn Nimnicht; and an infant son, Dana Karl Nimnicht.Calling hours will be from 4:00 - 7:00 Sunday at Goodwin Funeral Home.
