Carolyn Sue “Soupie” Sanders Brough, 86, of Vincennes, passed away with her family by her side on June 28, 2024, at 1:39 am.


Carolyn was born on August 29, 1937, in Petersburg, IN and was the daughter of James and Bessie Mae (Patterson) Sanders. She married Robert Brough on April 10, 1955, and they are now reunited after 64 years of marriage.Carolyn attended Bicknell High School. She was employed at numerous jobs throughout her life to include Troy’s Restaurant and Prestolite Battery in Vincennes, where she met many lifelong friends. Later in her life she worked for 13 years with many children at Franklin Elementary after-school daycare and retired from there. Carolyn was a Brownie Girl Scout leader for many years at Harrison Elementary School (Vincennes) an active member of Moose Lodge 281, (Vincennes) in her earlier years she was involved in the Fort Sackville Women’s Coffee Bowling League and a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.


Carolyn enjoyed traveling to Panama City Beach, visiting her family and special cousins in Georgia, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Route 66, and Tunica, MS. Carolyn also enjoyed time spent at the “boat” (the Evansville casino), taking road trips to French Lick with her husband and her cha’ ching sister, roller skating in Petersburg and Bicknell and many horse racing events. She loved to dance, listen to live music especially by Rick K and the All-nighters and Just One More, Karaoke at the Moose, and visiting the Grand Ol’ Opry in Nashville, TN. She greatly enjoyed spending time with the loves of her life her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.


Survivors include her sister Lela (Sanders) Harding, her children, Deborah (Brough) Heuby and her husband Dave (Vincennes), Michael Brough, Sr. and his wife Mindy (Vincennes); her grandchildren, Christy (Heuby) Pelzer and her husband Freddie (Douglasville, GA), Michelle (Brough) Sanders and her husband Brian (Lawrenceville, IL), Cody Heuby and his wife Paula (Vincennes), and Michael Brough, Jr, (Vincennes) as well as her great-grandchildren, Alexus, Emma, Logan, Mahkai, Myah, Mykah, Linsey, Paisley, and her great-great grandchildren Jackson, Murphy, Roni, and soon-to-be great-great granddaughter, Lilly. She is also survived by special friends Mary Blaize, Donna Almy, Monzella Stout, Janie Barnett, and Rick & Sarah Carroll, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings GeorgeSanders and Phyllis (Sanders) Hensley.


Friends may visit with Carolyn's family on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN. Carolyn will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery next to her husband. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Carolyn and her family.
