Carolyn Davis

Carolyn "Kay" (Hendershot) Davis, 72, of 830 Seminary St., Vincennes, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Friday May 31, 2013 at the New Willow Manor.She was born the daughter of Jesse N. and Esther (Brown) Hendershot on April 29, 1941 in Vincennes.Kay had worked in the housekeeping department at the Executive Inn for many years. A 1959 graduate of St. Rose Academy, she was a member of the First Church of God, past member of the Eastern Star and loved the company of her grandchildren.Surviving is her husband, Burnell Davis, whom she married August 18, 1973; five children, Bill (Brandee) Davis, Brian Davis, Janie (Buddy) Vaughn, Jeanette (Mike) Swope, and Tammy Davis & companion, Earin Plummer, all of Vincennes; two step-children, Jeannette (Larry) Johnson and Allen Davis, both of Bicknell; six brothers and sisters, Jess (Charlene) Hendershot, Bob (Bonnie) Hendershot, Bonnie (Gary) Tooley, Esther (Donnie) Able, all of Vincennes, Glenn (Robin) Hendershot of Bloomington, and Peggy (Bob) Flowers of Pioneer, CA. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.Kay was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren, Curtis Vaughn and Jessica Harris; a brother, Jim Hendershot, and three sisters, Marge Hobbs, Jackie Ballow, and Mary Emma Wyant.Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the First Church of God in Vincennes with Rev. Georg Karl and Rev. Fred Nocus officiating. Visitation will be from 3-7 Wednesday at the church. Family graveside services will be in the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God or to the New Willlow Manor.
