Celeste Tolbert

Celeste Marie Litherland Tolbert, 66, died Thursday about 5:10 p.m. after nearly a two- year battle with brain cancer. She passed peacefully at her residence with her family at her bed side. She was born Feb. 22, 1954 to William (Bill) and Alma (Kirsch) Litherland, and she was the third oldest of eight children. Celeste cherished any time that she could spend with her family, especially her nine grandchildren that referred to her as Nana. On Dec 28th,1974, she married Philip Tolbert Sr. Celeste and Phil have three children: Philip (Jennifer) Tolbert Jr, Jasper; Jenelle (Garrett) Collison, Washington; and Ryan (Heidi) Tolbert, Washington; as well as nine grandchildren she cherished: Gunnar, Lily, Molly, Carter, Sam, Lyric, Harper, Evie, & Korah. Celeste retired in 2019 from True RX and was a member of Southwind Wesleyan Church, where she loved to sing as part of the church's Praise Team. She also was active in the American Legion Post 121 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and siblings: Charlotte (Bowling) Wilz, Washington; Dave Litherland, Indianapolis; Greg Litherland, Washington; Marge Gillingham, Oceanside, CA; Jean Wilson, Rock Hill, NC; and Rick Litherland, Charleston, SC. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marilyn Sue Lemon. Friends may visit with Celeste's family on Monday, October 12th, 2020 from 5-7pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St. A private family funeral service will be held with Rev. Phil Kesson officiating. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, Washington is honored to assist the Tolbert family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude's hospital.
