Charles Combs

Charles F. Combs, 80, passed away at 9:03 am on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Charles was born on October 13, 1933 in Vincennes the son of Walter and Clara (Johnson) Combs. He married Sheila Quarterman of Vincennes on September 27, 1974 and they were happily married for almost forty years.Charles served his country in the United States Marines and the Air Force for twenty one years, retiring as a Tech Sergeant. He later was employed by the Vincennes Community School Corporation as a custodian and attended First Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife, Sheila Combs of Vincennes; brothers, Don Combs of Ohio, Tom Combs of Vincennes; sisters, Edith Wissel of Vincennes, Ethel Small of Vincennes, Frankie Swan of Vincennes; sister-in-law, Norma Rogers of Vincennes; brother-in-laws, Tom Quarterman, Carl Luthe, John Luthe and several nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his children, Charles F. Combs, Jr., Nancy Ann Combs, Carl Combs and two brothers.Funeral services for Charles will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Pastor Dan Clemens officiating.
