Charles Land

Charles M. Land, 87, passed away at 2:30 pm on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Lodge of the Wabash. Charles was born on February 18, 1927 in Cynthiana, KY the son of Charles Manville, Sr. and Tinnie L. (Ammerman) Land. He married Mary Bet Stephenson on June 12, 1949 and she preceded him in death five years to the date on November 21, 2009.Charles was a member of First Christian Church. He was a District Manager for Jewel Tea and later became a car salesman having worked for Westport Auto, Hendrickson Chevrolet and Memering Buick. Charles served his country in the United States Navy during WW II and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and was a member of the Traveler Protection Agency (T.PA.)Survivors include his daughter, Mary A. Helmling and her husband John of Fishers, son, George M. Land and his wife Cheryl of Carmel, son, Bill E. Land and his wife Martha of Vincennes, Sister, Mary F. Whitson of Richmond, KY, brother, Robert Land of Ft. Mitchell, KY; grandchildren, Karen Land, Morgan Land, Christopher Land, Lindsey Poyser and great grandchildren, McKenna and Xavier Poyser. Charles was preceded in death by his son, Charles "Chuck" M. Land III.Viewing will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Goodwin Funeral Home, immediately followed by the funeral service with Pastor Debbie Salters officiating.
