Charles W. Young Jr.Charles W. Young Jr., 86, Vincennes, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital.Born Feb. 13, 1927, in Vincennes, he was the son of Charles W. Young Sr. and Marie (Compton) Young.Charles enjoyed a long career as a painter and he loved being around people. People also loved being around him.He adored his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, his nieces and nephews, and many friends whom he considered his extended family. He was always willing to lend an ear or a helping hand.Surviving is his wife, Susan (Wood) Young, whom he married on Dec. 12, 1974; daughters, Judy Grundman and her husband, Mark, of Vincennes, Laura Mikiska and her husband, Mike, of Vincennes, Lea Ann Tate and her husband, Ed, of Lawrenceville, Ill., Rhonda Yates and her companion, Bub, of Stuart, Fla., and Dana Abell and her husband, Eric, of Patoka; sons, Joe Young and his wife, Cheryl, of Jensen Beach, Fla., Bradley Young of Lawrenceville, Ill., Robert Reynolds and his companion, Justine, of Okeechobee, Fla., and Charles W. Young III and his wife, Sara, of Sandborn; sisters, Ann Patterson and her husband, Bob, of Indianapolis, Margaret Anthis and her husband, Jim, of Vincennes, and Ruth Blagrave of Indianapolis; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his two special dogs, Sheba and Lily.He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Agnes Thomas and Sandy Ligon; and his brothers, John, Neal, Joe and Fay Young.Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.Online condolences can be sent to: http://www.goodwinfamilyfh.com.
