Chrispin B. Lanning, 57, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born March 28, 1954 to Robert (Bob) and Phyllis Lanning. He met his true partner in life, Kim, and was married on June 13, 1981. He was a member of Hamlin Chapel United Methodist Church and a true believer in Christ.He had been a dedicated hard worker all of his life having worked for Peabody Coal, Inc. for nearly thirty years. He loved his job, you could always tell when he used his "c.b talk" and how he had always been fascinated by heavy equipment earth movers. Many of his friends and fellow miners knew him by his nickname, "Flipper". In his spare time he loved to mechanic, especially on his '94 Chevy Corvette and spend time playing with his two grandsons and their new jeep. He cared for his wife and two daughters dearly, never telling them no. He would do anything for his family.He is survived by his wife, Kim; daughters, Ashley and Audrey; mother, Phyllis Lanning; brother, Tim and his wife, Diana and grandsons, Carter and Kaiden. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Preceding Chris in death was his father, Robert (Bob) Lanning.Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Hamlin Chapel with Rev. Les Coomer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
