Cody Garrett

Cody Garrett, 88, of Vincennes, Ind. passed away Oct. 6, 2019. He was born in Owensville, Ind. Feb. 18, 1931 to the late Albert and Kathryn (Robinson) Garrett. Cody graduated from Owensville High School in 1949. Shortly after he married the love of his life, or as he called her "his boss," Helen (Smiley) Garrett in 1951. He worked as a service manager for McCormick Inc. in Vincennes for 30 years before retiring in 1999. Cody enjoyed gardening, camping, and traveling. Cody and Helen traveled to all 50 states and Canada. One of Cody's favorite pastimes was affectionately teasing his loved ones, especially Helen. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and "Pa," as he was known by his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son James Garrett; siblings Jerald Garrett and Louanna Johnson. Cody is survived by his wife Helen Garrett; children Judy (Alan) Sievers, Rick Garrett, Marty (Lisa) Garrett, and Rob Garrett; siblings Dean (Kathie) Garrett, Joyce Wilson, and Ray (Sharon) Garrett; grandchildren Clay, Caitlin, Jordyn, Nathan, Alec, Jackson, and Madison; great-grandchildren Aurora, Collin, and Aubree; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Holder's Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Garrett. A celebration of life will be Oct. 15 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CST at Holders Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. with interment at Maumee Cemetery following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
