Connie Purdue, age 75, of Washington, Indiana, passed away January 6, 2021 in the comfort of her home. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her final days.Constance Sue Purdue was born on September 6, 1945 to Marston and Edith Fowler. She graduated from Washington Catholic High School Class of 1963. On December 26, 1964 she married her husband, Lars Alan Purdue. Together, they were faithful members of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Connie was the head of sales at Preciball USA, considered her co-workers and customers as her second family, and continued to work until her passing.Connie never met a stranger and was loved by many. Most people knew her as a spunky fashionista who was strong and hard-working. Whether you needed a helping hand, a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on, she was the one to go to. She loved to talk and everyone knew if you wanted an honest opinion, you went to Connie. While many know Connie by these qualities, her grandkids and close family had the privilege of knowing her most admirable traits. Her generosity and optimism always helped others keep things in perspective and remember what is important in life. Connie loved her grandkids more than anything and never missed a ballgame or school event, no matter the distance or weather. She loved to go to St. Louis Cardinals games, Purdue games and the beach with them. Even when they were arguably too big, grandma always let them sit on her lap for an award-winning back scratch. Her family fondly remembers all the holiday celebrations at her house, even if that meant eating dinner an hour later than planned.Even when things became hard in her life, Connie's strength and faith never wavered. She was incredibly resilient and always strived to create opportunities not only for her family, but everyone around her. The wisdom and strong values she instilled in her sons are evident in all generations of the Purdue family. While many people simply say "I love you", Connie always showed she meant it; you could never leave her house without hearing those three words.Connie is survived by her sons and daughters in-law, Jeffrey and Julie Purdue, of Chandler, IN; Aaron and Erin Purdue, of Newburgh, IN; and Nicholas and Sarah Purdue, of Orlando, FL. Her grandchildren meant the world to her: Emily, John, and Jake Purdue, Elizabeth and Kyle Niehaus, Maddie, Annie and Sara Purdue, and Nathan and Michael Purdue. She is also survived by two of her loving siblings: Russell Fowler and Vanessa Kavanaugh and her two second children Cassie and Courtney. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marston Fowler and Edith Holifield, her husband, Lars Purdue, and her siblings James Fowler and Mary Ellen Myers.A virtual celebration of life will be livestreamed on January 13th from 6:30pm EST to 7:30pm EST via http://eyenamics.com/purdueBecause of the pandemic, a private Catholic Mass, for family only, will be celebrated on January 14th at 11:30am EST via livestream with Father Paul Ferguson as celebrant.
