Danny Ray Wathen

We gather here to remember the life of a compassionate, loving, and loyal man, Danny Ray Wathen, who was born on July 9, 1950, in Evansville, Indiana, and resided in Wheatland, Indiana. A man of deep love and commitment, Danny leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and those lucky enough to have known him. He shared an unwavering love for his family, a passion for his work, and a unique fondness for life's simple pleasures. As Mother Teresa once said, "Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." This quote captures the essence of Danny's life, as he did just that.

Danny was a reliable truck driver by profession, serving the transportation industry with utmost dedication. Yet, it was at home where Danny truly shined. As a loving husband to his wife Vickie since September 1, 1979, and as a devoted father to his daughters, Danielle and Heidi, Danny was the cornerstone of his family. He was a proud grandfather to Damon, Dorian, Benjamin, Rowan, and Scarlet, whose lives were enriched by his love and wisdom. He was a man who found joy in simple things - from meticulously mowing his lawn, savoring his favorite ribs and fried chicken, to relishing the cheesiest of sci-fi movies with his family. His love for his family, work, and hobbies made him the extraordinary man that he was.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Dorlas Wathen, and his son, Nicholas. As we mourn his passing, we take solace in the fact that he lived a life brimming with love, loyalty, and compassion - a life truly worth celebrating.. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Goodwin-Sievers – Vincennes Funeral Home, 524 Broadway Street, Vincennes, Indiana, followed by a funeral service that will begin promptly at 1:00 pm. Pastor Trevor Murry will be officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
