David L. Alvis, 78, of Vincennes, passed away Jan. 14, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the owner of Alvis Music, and enjoyed playing the guitar. Wherever he went, there was usually a guitar close by. David had also worked as a painting and wallpaper contractor. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses, and had also served in the US Army. Born April 28, 1935, in Kennett, MO, he was the son of Royce and Evelyn (Westerfield) Alvis. His parents preceded him, as well as two sons, Jeffrey and Brian Alvis; a sister, Norma Chance; and two grandchildren, Justin and Mason Alvis. Surviving is his wife, Olive Jeanne (Hatton) Alvis; a son, Brett (Bobbi) Alvis of Monroe City, IN; a daughter-in-law, Diana Kaye Alvis of Evansville, IN; his brother, Gary Alvis of Evansville, IN; and his grandchildren, Blaise and Gunner Alvis of Monroe City, IN, Parker and Olivia Alvis of Washington, IN, and Adam and Shania Alvis of Evansville, IN. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, at 11:00, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 5:00 - 8:00. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
