David R. Swartzentruber, 59, of 6507 E Morgan Road, Bruceville, passed away at 5:42 a.m. November 16, 2013 at his residence.The son of Pete and Maggie (Lengacher) Swartzentruber, he was born June 11, 1954 in Daviess County.David retired as a forklift operator from Schott. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church and had served as past-president of the Plainville Lions Club and the Frank Roberts Youth League. David was an advocate of taking care of the earth by planting trees and recycling. He enjoyed landscaping, mushroom hunting, collecting Indian artifacts, going to auctions and sales, and was an avid I.U., Cardinals, and Colts fan.Survivors include his wife, Norene (Knepp) Swartzentruber, whom he married August 26, 1972; his mother, Maggie Swartzentruber of Odon; his daughter, Stephanie (Barry) Stone of Vincennes; his son, Tyson (Marisa) Swartzentruber of Vincennes; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jackson Stone, and Lilyann and Nolan Swartzentruber; and his brothers and sisters, Pauline Knepp of Washington, Bill Swartzentruber of Odon, Sharon Bond of Oaktown, Marilyn Smith of Washington, and Richard Swartzentruber of Odon.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Community United Methodist Church with Rev. Cheryl Carbe and Rev. Ray Tromley officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home.
