David Joseph Young, 52, of 501 Hart, Vincennes, went to be with God in heaven on Monday, September 9, 2013 from Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.He was born May 31, 1961 in New Orleans to Melvin and Rosemary (Boyd) Young.David was a Christian who loved God with all his heart, his family, and his fellow man. A great light has gone out in our lives but heaven must be all the brighter because he is there. David was all about love and everyone that knew him knew that.He was diabetic since he was 5 years old and fought his entire life. He fought the last 16 months in intensive care in several hospitals and kept the faith. He fought the good fight, and almost made it home to Vincennes but ultimately he did make it home to his Savior, Jesus Christ. Those who loved him the most, his mother Rosemary, his wife, Josie, his dog Sophie, his brothers, Chuck (Kathy) and Dan (Janet), his sister, Deborah (Lee), his nieces, Katie , Gracie, and Rachel, and his nephews, Stephen and Daniel, his cousin Joe, and family friend, Melbadean Williams.David worked for Preferred Home Health Care and volunteered for Dr. Bridges. He was a University Kentucky graduate, had worked at Murray Kentucky, and was a lay minister at the Pinkstaff Methodist Church.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gardner Brockman Funeral Home with Jim Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
