Delbert R. Riker, 77, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at his residence in Washington, Indiana. He was born on January 21, 1945, to the late Lowell Riker and Gertrude Bauer Riker in Alfordsville, Indiana. Delbert was a 1963 graduate of Alfordsville High School. After high school, he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a sharpshooter where he received the following awards: Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, 1 O/S Service Bar, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Device 1960. On July 25, 1970, Delbert married the love of his life, Beverly (Theroff) Riker, and they spent 51 years together. Together they had three children, April, Tim, and Angela. Delbert was a big supporter of the Washington Little League. He was involved with the Little League program for over thirty years, and during that time he served as a president and coach, along with various roles through the years. He loved helping and watching the little ones enjoying the game of baseball. Delbert was a proud family man. He loved to spend time with his family anytime he had, and especially when it involved his grandkids and great grandkids. Surviving Delbert is his wife, Beverly (Theroff) Riker of Washington, IN; his children, April Purdue (Rick) of Washington, IN, Tim Riker (Cassi) of St. Louis, MO, Angela Fry (Michael) of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren, Kayliee Clinton (Nick), Raylan Riker, Morgan Riker, Callan Riker, Maklan Riker, Mallory Fry, Samantha Fry, Gavin Fry; great grandchildren, Lucie Clinton, Cole Clinton, Oakley Clinton, Axel Clinton; brother, Herman Riker, Wilbur Riker (Cathy), Carl Riker (Ann), and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation for Delbert will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St. Washington, IN 47501 from 4:00 - 8:00pm. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St. Washington, IN 47501 at 11:00am with Pastor Matt Koerner officiating. Delbert will be laid to rest in the Oak Grove Reeve Township Cemetery and military rites will be performed at the graveside.
