Denise Barker

Denise K. Barker, 63, of 2569 South Old US 41, Vincennes, passed away at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Deaconess Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville.She was born August 16, 1951 in Vincennes to Kenneth and Gertrude (McCord) Burch. Denise retired from South Knox High School after teaching for 20 years. She had served as chairperson for the English Department and served on the curriculum board. A member of the Central Church of Christ, her family, grandchildren, friends and former students meant the world to her.Surviving is her husband, Randy Barker whom she married on June 18, 1972; her mother, Gertrude Burch of Vincennes; her daughters, Jill (Mike) Carnahan of Edwardsport, and Amanda Kay (Christian) LeFaure of Spencer, Indiana; a brother, Brian (Karen) Burch of Bicknell; and her grandchildren, Blake Gandy, Jacob LeFaure, Ethan LeFaure, and Isabella LeFaure.She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Burch.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday September 16, 2014 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Steve Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Monday at Goodwin Funeral Home.
