Dexter A. Bloebaum, 76, of 8079 S. Decker Road, Decker, passed away in Clermont, Florida on January 15, 2013.He was born June 21, 1936 in Knox County to Donald and Ruth (Ellerman) BloebaumA 1954 Decker High School graduate, Dexter was a third generation melon grower and a bus driver for South Knox School Corporation for 28 years. He was a life-long member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and PTL President. He served on the Purdue Hort Board and belonged to various watermelon association. He also served in the National Guard.Survivors include his devoted wife of 57 years, Billie L. (Butler) Bloebaum, whom he married October 9, 1955 at St. Peter Lutheran Church; three cherished children, two daughters, Cheryl and her husband, Stew Taylor of Evansville; Susan Booher of Vincennes; and a son, Doug Bloebaum and his wife Brenda of Decker; his cherished grandchildren, Alex and Ben Taylor, Gretchen, Adam and Hillary Booher, and Emily and Jake Bloebaum; his brothers, Bill Bloebaum and his wife, Rosalie, of Vincennes; Donald Bloebaum of Leesburg, Florida; a sister, Diana Brown and her husband, Terry, of Clermont, Florida, sisters-in-law, Marceline Butler, Ruth Ann Butler, and Cathie Bloebaum, eight nieces and nephews, and thirteen great-nieces and nephewsHe was preceded in death by his parents: Don and Ruth Bloebaum; a brother Bob Bloebaum, his brothers-in-law, Ronald and Ralph Butler; four nephews; and one great-great nieceFuneral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2013, at St. Peter Lutheran Church with Rev. Nathan Rastl officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday 1:00-6:00 PM at Goodwin Funeral Home.
