Dixie Jean Staley-VanLue, 75 passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 7:00 a.m. at the Freelandville Community Nursing Home. Dixie was born on January 19, 1936 in Knox County the daughter of Adam Leslie and Wilma I.O. (Abel) Chanley. Dixie was a nurse's aide having worked for Juno Nursing Home. She loved to read and enjoyed needle point. She also enjoyed NASCAR, western channels, the food network channel, and soap operas. She also enjoyed baking. Survivors include daughter, Kimberley Freeman and her husband Henry of Cartersville, GA; son, Terry VanLue of Bicknell, IN; son, Greg VanLue and his wife Janet of Bradenton, Fl; brother, Les Chanley of Vincennes; sister, Betty Reitmeyer of Loogootee, IN; sister, Sue Allen of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Rosalee Provines of Bicknell, IN; sister, Cheryl Jones of Bicknell, IN; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, David and Bill VanLue, 1 daughter, Regina VanLue and 1 brother Daniel Ray Chanley. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. on November 8, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Larry Schultz officiating. Friends may visit with Dixie's family from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Goodwin Funeral Home.
