Don E. Williams, age 83, of rural Wheatland passed away Friday, May 25, 2012. He was born on the family farm outside Wheatland on November 30, 1928 to Clinton and Helen (Marmaduke) Williams. He was a 1946 graduate of Wheatland High School, and attended the United Methodist Church in Wheatland all of his life. He and his wife of 62 years, the former Phyllis J. Meier from Bicknell, were married on July 10, 1949, and she survives. Don retired from CSX Railroad after 25 years as an engineer, and was also a retired farmer. He loved anything to do with nature, and enjoyed gardening, hunting, snow skiing, and kayaking. He never met stranger and loved helping others, but above all he cherished his family. He was a member of Indiana Farm Bureau, past member of the Wabash Soaring Society, member of the North American Hunting and Fishing Club, and a member of the Caring Hearts at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the father of seven children: sons, Tim Williams of Loogootee, Mark Williams and wife Angie of rural Robinson, IL, and the late David A. Williams; daughters, Penny Jones and husband Marc of rural Wheatland, Beth Ann McKee of Wheatland, Susan Bell and husband Robert of rural Loogootee, and Cheryl Marie Williams of Pittsburgh, PA. Don is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son David A. Williams, sister Alma Whalen Williams, and brother C.B. Williams.
