Donald Ennis

Donald Edward Ennis, age 64, of Petersburg, Indiana, walked through the gates of Heaven Tuesday, August 15, 2023 to celebrate a grand reunion. He is the son of Arthur and Annalea (Morton) Ennis. Don followed his father's footsteps straight into the field after high school. He was a proud second generation farmer. He farmed Ennis Farms and also enjoyed more than a decade of farming with Scott Parker in later years. He once had an article written about him in the Press Dispatch telling of local farmer, Don Ennis, raises corn, beans, dogs and kids. He also bred doberman pinschers as a hobby. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a larger than life presence and was known to his family and friends as "Big Don". He always had a love for babies and every baby that ever met him loved him instantly. As the years went on and his beard grew white children believed him to be Santa Claus, including his own grandchildren. Don was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, great uncle and friend and will be greatly missed. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Samantha Sue (Ennis) Shows and husband Jason of Jonesboro, Louisiana, Donald Randall Arthur Ennis and David Edward Ennis both of Petersburg, Indiana, Stacey Lorene (Ennis) Gowin and husband Conrad of Dundas, Illinois; bonus child, Sydney Wilhite; grandchildren, Jayson, Philip, Kaley, Hunter, Lincoln; step-grandchildren, Jacob, Cole, Ben; sister, Arletha (Ennis) Criss; niece, Stephanie Houchins; nephew, Jason Houchins; great niece, Ryleigh Vickers, great nephew, Alex Vickers. He was preceded in death by his parents. His family will hold a private memorial service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Willow Manor for all of the around the clock, loving care they gave to their father.
