Rev. Donald E. Haag, 82, of Wheatland, Indiana, passed away on January 18, 2022, at his residence. Donald was born on August 19, 1939, in Vincennes, Indiana, to the late Leo J. Haag and Elsie L. (Dunn) Haag. On September 27, 1958, Donald married the love of his life, the late Linda Lee (Shroader) Haag. Together, they had three children: Laura, Lisa, and LaDonna. In 1976, Donald opened Haag's Drugstore in Wheatland, Indiana, and he owned and operated it for twenty years. Donald also worked as a steel worker for Vincennes Steel for forty-four years before retiring as plant inspector. He was into affordable housing before it became popular, and he provided low budget housing for many. He loved to mushroom hunt, to grow strawberries, and loved fresh tomatoes. He was an Ordained Deacon with the Catholic Diocese of Evansville for thirty-five years and his last assignment was serving at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg, Indiana. He was also the minister of the Legion of Mary in Washington, Indiana. Work was his hobby, and he loved to serve his community. Church, family, and work were most important to Donald. Donald is survived by his daughters: Lisa Ice Jones (James) of Monroe City, Indiana, LaDonna L. (Haag) McCrary (Kevin) of Schellsburg, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren: Aaron K. VanVleet, Andrew K. Cumba, Austin K. Cumba (Angelique), M. Roy Ice (Katelyn), Victoria L. (Ice) Salters (Isaac), Olivia C. (Jones) Whipple (Eric), Katelynn (McCrary) Dudek (Kevin), Kameron McCrary (Cassie); his great - grandchildren: Deacon Reed Salters, Lockhart James Ice, Elsie Lynn Ice, Benson Knox Dudek, Nolan Porter McCrary, Eivin Boyd McCrary, Jaxton Whipple, Hunter Whipple; sister: Linda K. Newton of Greenwood, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Leo and Elsie; his wife: Linda L. (Shroader) Haag; his daughter: Laura L. Haag; his brother: Joseph A. Haag; and his sister: Connie S. Haag. Visitation for Donald will be held on Tuesday January 25, 2022, at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St. Washington, Indiana 47501 from 9:00 - 11:00am. A Catholic Mass will then be conducted at 11:30am with Father Frank Renner and Father Bill Dietsch at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 315 NE 3rd St. Washington, Indiana 47501.
