Donald Halter

Donald "Don" Francis Halter, 57, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 6:25 am surrounded by his family. He was born on Saturday, February 29, 1964, to Francis H.J. and Mary M. (Holscher) Halter. Don worked with his father as owner/operator of D&H Glass Services for 35 years. Don, a lifelong resident of Vincennes, enjoyed music, attending concerts with friends, vacationing with his family, baking, and spending time in the kitchen. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Porter Wayne. Don was a past president of the Christian Educational Foundation and worked tirelessly for many years on the Germanfest. Those surviving Don include: his parents Francis H.J. and Mary Halter of Vincennes; sister Cheryl Halter of Plainfield, IN., sister Karen Gelb and her husband Dan of Indianapolis, IN., brother Ron Halter of Vincennes, and sister Amy Norris and her husband Tom of Ellettsville, IN.; along with nieces and nephews: Audrey Gelb, Sadie Gelb, Emma Halter-Mann, Carl Norris, Henry Norris, and Joe Norris. Private family services will be held for Don. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Miles for Myeloma at https://www.cancer.iu.edu/m4m/ an annual event established by Don's oncologist, Dr. Rafat Abonour, to raise funding for research and care aimed at improving treatment for those with this rare disease. Don's family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Rafat Abonour, Ellen Rovner NP, Chelsea Long RN and the entire support team at IU Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis for their compassion and care during Don's illness.
