Donald Persinger

December 18, 1939 — June 30, 2013

Born December 18, 1939 in Acup, WVa. he was the son of Edward and Mary Goldie Kirk Persinger. Don was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Jacob and Bill Persinger and two sisters, Ellen Butler and Mildred Honaker.Donald was an Army Veteran with 21 years of service. He served two tours in Vietnam and one in Korea. During his years of dedication to his country he received the National Defense Service Medal; Bronze Star; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. During his Duty as a Military Policeman he served as a liaison between the Military and Civilian Courts.After retiring from the Military; Donald began his career in coal mining in WVa. Donald furthered his career by becoming a Federal Government Supervisor for mine inspectors in Vincennes Indiana.Donald was a Mason, Shriner and in the York Rite; he was also a member of Bethlehem General Baptist Church. In his free time Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman.Donald is survived by his wife of 44 years Judith Dickerson Persinger; daughter Donna Langley of Lexington N.C , husband R.L. and her sons Chuck, Chad and Will Talbert. Son; Donald J. Persinger Jr. of Franklin IN wife Tammi and children Monica, Joey and Hannah. Son; Christopher L. Persinger of Monroe City, IN wife Tami and children Brittany, Kaylee and Garrett. Sisters; Maryitta Henley of Ohio, Helena Vedeikif of NC , Genivie Bovie of WVa and Jewell Watson of Tenn.Donald was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, father-n-law, son and son
