Dora Steel

Dora J. Steel, 79, passed away at 2:20 am on January 24, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her family. Dora was born on December 30, 1939 in Vincennes the daughter of Earl and Bertha (Conklin) Arthur. She married Ross J. Steel on May 27, 1961 and he preceded her in death on April 4, 1996.Dora had worked at Brown Shoe Factory and Good Samaritan Hospital and provided day care to many children in Vincennes. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and going out to eat with family and friends.Survivors include her children, Theresa Hutchison and her husband Pat of Vincennes, Jim Steel and his wife Lisa of Vincennes, Cindy Welcher of Vincennes; brother, James Arthur and his wife Vonda of Flat Rock, IL.; sister, Patty Pheffer of Vincennes; grandchildren, Ryan Hutchison (Andrea), Andrew Hutchison, Eric Welcher, Matt Steel (Kaylee), Shelby Marchino (John), Adam Steel (Danielle), Ross Steel; great grandchildren, Cole and Connor Hutchison and Jackson and Max Steel. Dora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ross, and brothers, Elmer, Francis, Raymond, Charles and Larry Arthur, as well as two infant brothers.Friends may visit with Dora's family from 4-8 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes. Dora's funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January, 28, 2019 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1902 Main St. with Pastor Trevor Murry officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.
